How cute will your dog be if you had him dressed up in a Halloween costume.

Why would you go to the trouble of dressing up tour family dog for Halloween? Children long ago worked out that bringing along the family pet, was a great ice breaker when meeting strangers, many people when confronted with a dog will automatically want to pat your dog and if he is a small dog, then he will also be cute. Chances are, you will fill your Halloween treat bag several notches higher this year when your dog comes trick or treating with you.

From Mum and Dad's point of view, I can also see this is not such a bad idea either. Even a small dog is sensitive to danger, and likely to bark if there is any sign of trouble brewing on the dark streets, as your children go about their trick or treating at Halloween. Further to this, the children taking along a dog can only improve their safety, They will be more careful when crossing the street, and the dog will bark if there is any sign of danger. Buying a costume for your dog is a small investment for your children's safety.

The choices you have when selecting your dog Halloween costumes are huge. Your family pet dog can be dressed up in a popular zelda dog costumes, where you have a choice of Superman, Spider Man, Bumble Bee, Prisoner and even a devil outfit for a dog. Perhaps mum is wearing a very saucy outfit, and in this case you may want the bad girl dog outfit, santa, buzz light year and many more possibilities for a fun filled Halloween night of trick or treating

If you choose a more elaborate costume for your pet, then you can coordinate Rover's Halloween costume to the rest of the family. For example, if you also have a small child, you can have the two of them dress in similar costumes. Or have you child and the dog reverse roles for the night - have your child be a puppy and dress the dog in an appropriate human costume. If you have a small dog, you could dress him up in baby clothing and push him in the stroll.

Let your pet enjoy the night also

Not all dogs like to wear clothing, so if you have want to have an great fun night, try on a simple dog overcoat for your pet and see if he tries to wriggle out of the overcoat. If he does not try to wriggle out then you are in for a great night.

The outfit you choose should not have any loose bells or small objects which your dog may be able to bite off and get stuck in their throat, the object should not be oversize or undersize for your dog, otherwise, there is a tendency for your pet try try and take off the costume and play with it.

Be aware that not every person is a dog/cat lover and as such be sensitive to their needs and do not force your pet upon then, if your neighbor asks to pat the dog then there is less chance of problems.

Check you local laws when it comes to walking with your dog, there are sometimes pet unfriendly neighborhoods and you will want to ensure that you, your children and your pet can have a great time on Halloween without any of the neighbors calling the police or fire department.

Making your dog part of the Halloween fun can be a memorable event for everyone involved.
